About Me
I have been devoted in the mental health field for more than twenty years. My journey as a mental health provider started as a psychiatric nurse in my birthplace, Hong Kong. During my nursing career, my interests in counseling grew stronger and stronger. I decided to come to the United States to enrich my knowledge and broaden my worldview, better preparing myself as a mental health provider. With the scholarship awarded by the University of Cincinnati, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Counseling at the University of Cincinnati in 2000.
I have worked with children, adolescents and adults in hospitals, clinics, schools and community. I have extensive experiences in individual, couple and family therapy. Even this day, as a seasoned clinician, I strive to sharpen my skills and knowledge by attending and participating in professional seminars, workshops and reading newly published professional articles.
My nursing background helps me to gain a deeper understanding of the body-mind interactions. I strive to provide holistic counseling, addressing the complexity of physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of my clients.
I speak English and Cantonese fluently. I have worked with people with diverse ethnic backgrounds. The wisdom of Asian culture complements my Western education and training in psychology and counseling. My awareness of both Eastern and Western philosophies enhances my ability to provide unique and holistic counseling to my clients and their families.
